Just watched Frank Turner’s ‘All About The Destination’ DVD from 2006 AGAIN, back when Million Dead broke up and he was touring with very little money and a very small following.
It was so inspirational. Frank was basically homeless and toured for weeks without days off and without having places to stay. He relied on trains, and people from the crowd or venue giving him a floor or sofa to sleep on till the morning.
He booked all the dates himself, and just did it because he loved it.
This is exactly what I want to do. I want to do a tour getting trains and coaches around playing small shows telling people about my music.
The week after next I am going to record a short acoustic EP, which I will then send to gig promoters in Brighton in the hope of getting some local gigs. Then if that goes well, sometime soon I want to do a DIY tour like that.
He has earned what he has achieved. He is by far the hardest working musician out there right now. I cannot think of anyone else who tours as much as Frank or releases as much material as frequently as he does.. Most bands if your lucky give you an album every 2-3 years. One album a year normally with an EP as well for Frank. How he finds the time.
This is why I support this artist, own everything he’s released (sometimes two copies) and fully respect him. He is so talented and hardworking.
Go support Frank.
